I was paid a tribute today
which made me feel so good
by a person unknowingly
but yet I understood

it was said. "You’re too forgiving."
while doubting the outcome
this person knew of my enemy
and the wrong that was done
____
I had every right for revenge
to seek satisfaction
but the love of Jesus in me
gave me His compassion
____
to rid my soul of the torment
forgiving shows mercy
I’ve been inflamed with vile hatred
which tried to consume me
____
trusting in God believing Him
proves there is a power
to eradicate all discord
bringing peace in this hour
____
"Love your enemies" said the Lord
His words spoke to my soul
I yearn to do His will on earth
His mercy I extol
____
I have grown closer to my Lord
by obeying His word
and the compliment said in jest
was grateful to be heard?
